User Guide Picasa is free photo management software from Google that helps you find, edit and share your pictures in seconds. Picasa helps you find and organize all your pictures. Once you start Picasa, it scans your hard drive to find and automatically organize all your pictures. Picasa finds the following image and movie file types: • Image file types: JPG, GIF, TIF, PSD, PNG, BMP, RAW (including NEF and CRW). GIF and PNG files are not scanned by default, but you can enable them in the options dialog. • Movie file types: MPG, AVI, ASF, WMV, and MOV.

The completely new theme for Ubuntu 8.04 has been deferred to the following release. The original plan was to have a fresh theme for every long-term-support release, starting with Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron.Now it has been decided to put off the redesign until Ubuntu 8.10. I recently stumbled across a very promising alternative to Adobe Photoshop which runs on many different operating systems (and no, it’s not The Gimp!). This is especially good news for Linux users who are tired of running the outdated Photoshop 7.0 in WINE (although some have gotten CS2 to work).For quite some time website developers using Linux as their operating system of choice have been pretty much forced to use The Gimp as their image editor. Since I use Linux as my operating system, this made things very difficult. I found that The Gimp wasn’t exactly my kind of image editor. It didn’t seem to have the same kind of feel as Photoshop. So like many others I used the very old Photoshop 7.0 in WINE. This didn’t really work either. It wasn’t nearly as powerful as Photoshop CS2 or CS3

Picasa cerca le fotografie presenti sugli hard disk del proprio computer e le organizza in un database per una rapida ricerca.Sono presenti alcuni strumenti per aggiungere effetti alle immagini e correggerle (luminosità, contrasto ecc...) manualmente o in modo completamente automatico, grazie alla funzione "Mi sento fortunato".

Pixel: Photoshop for Linux

E' arrivata la versione 1.0 di Pixel image editor, un programma che promette di dare battaglia a Photoshop soprattutto perché multipiattaforma. Per quanto riguarda il supporto, infatti, oltre ai più noti sistemi operativi Linux, Windows e Mac OS X, si aggiungono BeOS, SkyOS, MorphOS, FreeBSD e eComStation (manca per ora una versione per il novello gOS). Il gruppo di sviluppo avverte che, se verrà manifestato l’interesse, si procederà a supportare Linux/x86_64, Linux/ARM, Solaris/x86, Solaris/Sparc, Windows x64, NetBSD/x86.
