How to publish and share nice pdf documents, newsletters or magazines using Scribd.com and Issuu.com

More than one year ago we wrote a short post about creating pdf files using Openoffice (also in its portable version), now we would like to talk about two interesting Web 2.0 websites which allow you to publish and share your documents. On one hand, Scribd.com is an interesting website you can use to upload and share files in the following formats: Microsoft Word (doc, docx), Microsoft Powerpoint (ppt, pptx, pps), Microsoft Excel (xls, xlsx), PDF (pdf, ps), Open Office Documents (odt, odp, sxw, sxi, etc.), Images (jpg, png, gif, tiff) and Text Documents (txt, rtf). On the other hand, Issuu.com is very intuitive to use but very effective. Using Issuu you can upload a pdf files transforming it into a “cool magazine format”. In few words, you can modify, with just a click, your pdf file in a browsable magazine, with active links and notes. Moreover you can also insert your “brand new” magazine as a htlm widget directly in your blog or website. Recommended!

KPDF è un lettore PDF libero, integrato con l'ambiente desktop KDE ed è basato su Xpdf. Alcune delle sue caratteristiche sono: * Visualizzazione laterale delle miniature delle pagine del documento * Visualizzazione della tavola dei contenuti del documento (se presente nel documento stesso) * Possibilità di ricerca per mezzo di una finestra di dialogo (ricerca di testo in avanti e indietro) e attraverso un filtro per mostrare solo le miniature delle immagini in cui è presente il testo cercato * Possibilità di catturare immagini e testo facilmente tracciando un rettangolo intorno a cosa si vuole catturare. * Modalità presentazione * L'utilizzo della memoria può essere controllato, in modo da poter usare più o meno RAM a seconda di quanta è disponibile nel sistema * Funzionalità di accessibilità, quali: o Possibilità di scegliere i colori predefiniti per lo sfondo e per il testo, come un foglio di stile CSS o Possibilità di integrarsi con KTTSD (il sistema di text to speech di KDE) per la pronuncia di parti del documento KPDF, inoltre, utilizza l'architettura KParts di KDE, e per questo può essere anche integrato in Konqueror.

KPDF is a KDE PDF (Portable Document Format) viewer based on the code of the xpdf application. Although being based on xpdf c KPDF is a KDE PDF (Portable Document Format) viewer based on the code of the xpdf application. Although being based on xpdf code, KPDF has some unique features such as continuous mode and presentation support.The PDF format is widely used for publishing documents that are mostly not meant to be edited again. KPDF is only a viewer for these files and therefore it doesn't provide any functionality to edit or create PDF documents.

Non è ancora stata comunicata la data di uscita, ma nei laboratori di Google si starebbe testando la possibilità di lavorare sui documenti di Google Docs anche offline. Un passo in avanti nell'erosione del mercato dominato da Microsoft Office
