Una delle grandi limitazioni che impone la licenza GPL alle distribuzioni Linux è la possibilità di preinstallare codec multimediali e tutto quello che è proprietario. Quindi non essendoci codec audo/video già installati se non quelli open source non è presente nemmeno un convertitore per questi file.
