Creating Virtual RedHat/CentOS/Fedora Appliances For KVM With BoxGrinder
BoxGrinder is a tool that allows you to build virtual machines (with RedHat, CentOS, Scientific Linux or Fedora as the OS) for multiple virtualization techniques. Currently it supports KVM, VMware, Amazon EC2, VirtualBox, and VirtualPC. This tutorial shows how to use BoxGrinder to create a CentOS 6 KVM guest on Fedora 17 and also how to deploy it to a remote KVM host.
Serving CGI Scripts With Nginx On CentOS 6.3
This tutorial shows how you can serve CGI scripts (Perl scripts) with nginx on CentOS 6.3. While nginx itself does not serve CGI, there are several ways to work around this. I will outline two solutions: the first is to proxy requests for CGI scripts to Thttpd, a small web server that has CGI support, while the second solution uses a CGI wrapper to serve CGI scripts.
Virtualization With KVM On A CentOS 6.3 Server
This guide explains how you can install and use KVM for creating and running virtual machines on a CentOS 6.3 server. I will show how to create image-based virtual machines and also virtual machines that use a logical volume (LVM). KVM is short for Kernel-based Virtual Machine and makes use of hardware virtualization, i.e., you need a CPU that supports hardware virtualization, e.g. Intel VT or AMD-V.
Virtualization With Xen On CentOS 6.3 (x86_64) (Paravirtualization & Hardware Virtualization)
This tutorial provides step-by-step instructions on how to install Xen (version 4.1.x) on a CentOS 6.3 (x86_64) system. Xen lets you create guest operating systems (*nix operating systems like Linux and FreeBSD), so called "virtual machines" or domUs, under a host operating system (dom0). Using Xen you can separate your applications into different virtual machines that are totally independent from each other.
Installing Lighttpd With PHP5 (PHP-FPM) And MySQL Support On CentOS 6.3
Lighttpd is a secure, fast, standards-compliant web server designed for speed-critical environments. This tutorial shows how you can install Lighttpd on a Centos 6.3 server with PHP5 support (through PHP-FPM) and MySQL support. PHP-FPM (FastCGI Process Manager) is an alternative PHP FastCGI implementation with some additional features useful for sites of any size, especially busier sites. I use PHP-FPM in this tutorial instead of Lighttpd's spawn-fcgi.
The Perfect Server - CentOS 6.3 x86_64 (nginx, Dovecot, ISPConfig 3)
This tutorial shows how to prepare a CentOS 6.3 x86_64 server for the installation of ISPConfig 3, and how to install ISPConfig 3. ISPConfig 3 is a webhosting control panel that allows you to configure the following services through a web browser: nginx web server, Postfix mail server, MySQL, BIND nameserver, PureFTPd, SpamAssassin, ClamAV, Mailman, and many more. Since version 3.0.4, ISPConfig comes with full support for the nginx web server in addition to Apache; this tutorial covers the setup of a server that uses nginx, not Apache.
Installing Apache2 With PHP5 And MySQL Support On CentOS 6.3 (LAMP)
LAMP is short for Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP. This tutorial shows how you can install an Apache2 webserver on a CentOS 6.3 server with PHP5 support (mod_php) and MySQL support.
Installing And Using OpenVZ On CentOS 6.3
In this HowTo I will describe how to prepare a CentOS 6.3 server for OpenVZ. With OpenVZ you can create multiple Virtual Private Servers (VPS) on the same hardware, similar to Xen and the Linux Vserver project. OpenVZ is the open-source branch of Virtuozzo, a commercial virtualization solution used by many providers that offer virtual servers. The OpenVZ kernel patch is licensed under the GPL license, and the user-level tools are under the QPL license.
