Today, in our post we added a brief, elemental guide to fix a particular inconvenience that sometimes happens with new kernel versions on Ubuntu. In fact, every time I decide to upgrade the kernel I have big problems with my graphic card (NVidia) and when rebooting I am not able to see my screen. I think that one of the possible problems is the AWN (a -MAC style- bar) I have installed on my PC. After many wasted hours trying to fix this matter I find a very fast solution. I start my Ubuntu 8.04 in the safe mode (sometimes using the previous kernel version) and I launch EnvyNG (Applications - System Tools - EnvyNG) to automatically reconfigure my video card. I know that probably this is not the most advanced way to fix my kernel problem but you can believe that it is very fast and effective. Try it if necessary!

Some days ago, after the update from Firefox 3.0 to the 3.0.1 version I completely lost my favorite browser. I have not already solved the problem so I installed Flock but I was not able to find a Flock icon with a transparent background to insert on the AWN dock. So I decide to create a 48×48 icon using a common Flock icon with a white background. For this purpose I used KIconEdit (version 3.5.9 - Ubuntu version) and in just five minutes I solved my problem. The result is not perfect but acceptable so I decided to share it with all you. I hope it would be useful to someone. Enjoy it!

Diciamoci la verità: quanti di voi trovandosi di fronte ad un MAC hanno ammirato quella barra in basso che, tra un'animazione e l'altra, ci permette di lanciare applicazioni e switchare tra i vari task? Credo nessuno sia immune al suo fascino ed al suo impatto grafico...
