Ieri è stata rilasciata Ubuntu 8.04 LTS, la nuova versione della popolare distro di casa Canonical. La sigla LTS, sta ad indicare che questa nuova edizione, a differenza delle due precedenti, gode di un supporto a lungo termine (fino al 2011). Questa caratteristica renderà Hardy Heron maggiormente interessante alle aziende, le quali tendono a preferire lunghi cicli di upgrade per i propri sistemi operativi. Questo rilascio sarà come al solito la base delle nuove versioni di Kubuntu, Xubuntu ed Edubuntu. Kubuntu 8.04 non è però un rilascio LTS e sarà supportato per soli diciotto mesi.
